Want to do your own storytime at home? These are some resources that can help.
Early Literacy Storytimes @ Your Library: Partnering with Caregivers for Success by Saroj Nadkarni Ghoting
(Parenting section J 027.6251 GHO)
While this book sounds like it's for librarians it is also useful for the layperson. Knowing the 6 Early Literacy skills are important to putting on a great storytime.
(Parenting section J 027.62 REI)
(Parenting section J 372.677 WAR)
This book includes tips and ideas for using a feltboard, puppets or magnets during storytime. This important focus on interaction with the kids keeps them interested.
The Storytime Sourcebook: A Compendium of Ideas and Resources for Storytellers by Carolyn N. Cullum
(J REF 027.62 CUL)
While you can't check out this book, I recommend taking a look at it as it is what I use for most of my storytime ideas. For each theme it includes a list of books, songs, crafts and interactives.
